Maxey to Mrkt Deeping along River Welland footpath from pig farm Tues 20th Jan 2009 afternoon

Another crisp sunny day with superb visibility. Just a pleasure to be out and about despite the cold. 30 species seen. Of note was goldcrest. A water rail disturbed, which then flew weakly back up stream, pochard and 2 little grebes. I also saw a fleeting view of a mink or otter going down the bank into the water, but unfortunately i couldn't be sure which it was. 2 hares also seen on way back infront of Lazy C Farm.
