Maxey Deep Pit Tues 10th March 2009

Plenty of bird noise here this afternoon with upwards of 500! golden plovers standing tightly together on the exposed mud flat with lots more birds circulating around. Smaller numbers of lapwing seen.Healthy numbers of teal. Also 5 redshank .
On the way back to the car went over the bridge and visited the pit on the south side of the cut and saw both a common sandpiper feeding at waters edge on the stones and a green sandpiper on the sand bar.
