Fungi Galore

Oak Polypore...Woodcroft
I don't think i have seen a better September for fungi than this year. A strong contrast of alternating warmth, cold and wet spells, means that you cannot fail to go for a walk, without seeing at least one type of fungus. This is a sample of what i have observed the last few days.

Turkeytail...Our Helpston garden
A very striking fungus with zones of white, grey, yellow, black & purple

Fenugreek milkcaps.....Bainton Pits
This poisonous fungus smells mildly of curry
Found in damp locations close to either birch, pine or spruce

Hen of the Woods....Heath Rd woods
In this case found at the base of a beech tree but also found at the base of oak and sweet chestnut

Common Funnel....Swaddywell

found in small groups in leaf or needle litter often along paths
