
There were two blackcaps singing in Royce Wood this morning, my first of the spring and pretty early ones at that. Normally I would expect to hear them around the 8 or 10 April, not before. In fact, despite the cold winter most migrants appear to be arriving early this year, although I haven't seen that many myself yet.
There was also (another) red kite patrolling over Snip Green and a nuthatch calling in the wood.
