Etton Maxey Pits

A gorgeous female marsh harrier at the pits this morning - dark chocolate brown with a bright cream cap.

Also seven snipe and 100 teal.

Water levels on the reserve are too high, but the pump seems to be out of action at the moment, we are pressing Tarmac for its repair.

We will be holding a work party on site on Saturday 29 September from 11am-4pm with the main task being clearing willow and opening up paths from the north hide. If you haven't been to reserve before this would be a great time to come down and see what is going on - if you don't feel like being part of the work group, then just come for a wander round. We will also be explaining our management plans for the winter.
