There was a large batting hawking for insects over what was the Martin Pit to the south of Maxey Cut yesterday afternoon at 4.30pm.
Wing-span roughly about that of a swift, broad wings, the ears visible at distance, giving it a tufted appearance. Sharp, tumbling dives in search of prey – my thought was Noctule, but I am no expert – any other thoughts and also on the frequency of such daylight hunting?
Thanks
Richard
