SEEN IN OUR HELPSTON GARDEN TODAY 14TH DEC
The cold weather the last few days has certainly created extra interest in the garden. Regular visits from fieldfares, reed buntings, woodpeckers and to top it all 2 waxwings. This confirms Richards fly over by 2 waxwings he reported the other day. I was surprised to see them on the ground but like the fieldfares they are attracted by the fallen apples. We also have some tree sparrows back in the garden after a total absence last winter, but unfortunately not in the numbers we have previously experienced.
My neighbour has also had a daily visit from a brambling but we haven't seen it yet.
