The Fungal Foray back in October was surprisingly successful. Given the “natural world” calendar was running 2-3 weeks late, there was a greater risk than usual of little fungal action. However the change of location to Southey Woods (thank you Jean and Frieda) provided a wider range of habitats – mature mixed woodland, beechwoods, limestone & coppiced hazel, coniferous, and open grassy rides – such that 30 species were observed and identified which is double the previous average for Castor Hanglands. A good time was enjoyed by all.
