More Cuckoos

No sooner than I posted my last blog lamenting the lack of cuckoos in Helpston, but Chris Topper reports hearing one from Royce Wood yesterday, 29 April. Perhaps we will hear them more often around the village this year.

Another of those wonderful winter/spring contrasts at Swaddywell yesterday, with our newly arrived summer migrants singing away and two fieldfare still around too - surely they must depart for their summer breeding grounds in Scandanavia soon?

This morning at Castor Hanglands there were four nightingales singing from the new plantations - up from three last year.
