Migrant Update

First sandmartins at Maxey Pit March 16th. By April 30th a colony had been established in the currently worked gravel and sand quarry. (Though work has been temporarily suspended here). There are over 170 nest holes noticeably in the lower, more compacted, gravel strata rather than in the upper more sandy material. Yellow wagtails here too.

First yellow wagtails (Maxey Pit) April 16th. Seen in Maxey Road April 30th.

Male and female wheatears at Maxey Pit on April 14th, April 20th, with a female remaining until April 30th (and probably beyond.
