Wheatear in the rain

I read last night that two avocets and a black tern had been seen at Etton Road - Maxey Pits, so when I woke this morning and it wasn't raining, I got up, got off and went to see them. By the time I got there at 6.10am it was pouring down and by the time I had walked to the water's edge, I was soaked and could see no sign of them! I did find a couple of dunlin, lots of lapwing and some common tern, but not much else.

On the way home, however, I disturbed a female wheatear from the road between Helpston and Maxey, near the hard standing north-west of the level crossing. This is the third time I have seen wheatear near here this year.
