Walking across the fields south of Helpston last night, we were treated to two views of a barn owl - first returning directly to its nest site with prey - and minutes later heading out across the farmland again and flying into Royce Wood, where I presume it perched, either to feed itself, or just for a rest between hunting.
On the way home, a tawny owl was perched in full view on a farm shed, watching us carefully before flying off behind the building.
