For some reason I have decided to enter the Great Eastern Run this year, so I am busy trying to get up to pace, having started training quite late.
On Friday I ran out from Helpston to the famous three mile tree - a prominent ash on the road to Ailsworth that marks the spot - yes, you've guessed it - that is exactly three miles from my house.
The run was tiring and hard work. But en route I was able to watch a red kite over Snip's Green, 2 buzzards near the Hanglands and a kestrel out towards three mile tree itself.
Not bad, really.
