Barn Owl

I stopped off to check on the sheep at Torpel Manor Field this morning at 8am and was greeted by a barn owl sitting on the paddock railings watching the world go by.  It sat there for several minutes before I disturbed it going through the gate – it flew off over the field and was hunting there, quite close to me at times, for another five minutes before heading off over the houses on West Street and away south – perhaps towards Hilly Wood Barn?
