Birds and Flowers at Etton Maxey

Tern breeding success for a second year! Two fluffy and well-camouflaged chicks on the "old" raft today - huddled against the wind under the raft bargeboard.
There was also new pair on this raft, making 4 adult birds in all, and a third pair have already nested on the new 2011/2 raft nearer the quarry - chicks hopefully awaited.

The Bee Orchids are well spread out - there are six groups along the eastern bank edge in addition to the one Trevor posted from the quarry floor, and many more elsewhere.

Also Vipers Bugloss (Echium Vulgare) near the viewing seat.
