Owling

I walked out along the Maxey Cut last night just before dusk.  There were about a dozen common terns on the Martin Pit, most them sitting forlornly on the remaining islands watching the water which has swamped their nests.  But there were two big, hungry chicks and two terns still seem to be sitting on nests.

There was also a little owl near the usual nest box on the land down to Etton Road and a barn owl sitting quietly on a post just off the Helpston Road to Maxey, south of the South Drain.
