Maxey residents tour

In Langdyke's second trip to the Maxey-Etton pits in 2 weeks, we were accompanied by 11 Maxey residents (and a dog), for a walk around the central lake.
The residents really showed an interest in the wildlife of the pits, looking out to the water at Shell ducks, Red-Shanks and Larks. Two Hares were spotted at the beginning of the tour, running across the fields in front of us and we even caught a fleeting glimpse of a Barn Owl.
With the light fading, the group began to head back, occasional stopping for another quick look over the lake. The tour left the residents with a new love for the pits and all said they would return.
